Black Cumin Seed Oil HTQ is a potent, organic black cumin oil with a naturally high thymoquinone content of 1.84 per cent. The oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, better known as black cumin. It has a mild, rounded flavour and does not cause a scratchy throat, as is sometimes the case with black cumin oil. The bottle contains a full litre, so the price per dose is low.

What does HTQ stand for in Black Cumin Seed Oil HTQ?

HTQ stands for high thymoquinone content, one of the natural plant compounds found in black cumin seeds. The content varies greatly from oil to oil, depending on the quality of the seeds and the pressing process. This oil from Oleador has been selected specifically for its documented thymoquinone content of 1.84 per cent. The seeds are organically grown, the oil is gently cold-pressed, and it is bottled in Germany. Nothing at all has been added. One ingredient, pressed and bottled with care.

A litre may sound like a lot, but at one tablespoon a day, the bottle will last for a good two months’ daily use. Stored in a cool, dark place, the oil will keep well throughout this period. Compare the price per litre with the small bottles many people start with, and the maths speaks for itself.

How to take the oil

  • Take one tablespoon daily.
  • Take it on an empty stomach, in the morning or in the evening.
  • Preferably about 30 minutes before a meal.
  • Store the bottle in a cool, dark place once opened.
  • Screw the lid on tightly after use to keep the oil fresh.

The flavour is spicy and slightly peppery. If you find pure oil on a spoon too much, you can mix it into a spoonful of yoghurt or a glass of juice. Choose the time of day that’s easiest for you to remember – morning or evening – and stick to it.

Black cumin in the kitchen and tradition

Black cumin seeds have been used in Middle Eastern and North African cuisines for centuries, both as a spice and as pressed oil. The seeds are also known as nigella and are sprinkled whole over bread and salads in many culinary traditions. The oil can also be used cold in cooking, where it adds a warm, spicy note to dressings, dips and vegetable dishes. Incorporate it into your daily routine, just as you would with other cold-pressed oils.
