Astaxanthin, Liposomal, 250 ml

Natural astaxanthin in liquid, liposomal form. The substance is extracted from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis and is the pigment that gives salmon, prawns and crabs their red colour. A daily dose of 5 ml provides 8 mg, equivalent to the amount found in approximately 1 kg of farmed Atlantic salmon.

From green algae to red pigment

Haematococcus pluvialis is, in essence, a green freshwater algae. When exposed to strong sunlight, it produces astaxanthin as a natural defence mechanism, and it is precisely this substance that is harvested for the supplement. The pigment belongs to the carotenoid family, the same as beta-carotene found in carrots. ActiNovo supplements the dose with vitamins B2 and B12.

How to take the supplement

• Take 5 ml daily, preferably with a meal.
• The dose can be taken straight or mixed into a glass of water.
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
• Dietary supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.

Please note that the dose is half that of most other liquid supplements; the bottle therefore lasts for 50 days. The liquid has a deep reddish colour, which is characteristic of the substance itself, and a mild, fruity taste of sea buckthorn.

Wild salmon get their colour from eating the very crustaceans that have eaten the algae; the pigment moves, so to speak, up through the food chain. With this supplement, you skip the whole chain and go straight to the source. The comparison with one kilo of salmon also illustrates why the supplement form is the practical way to achieve a declared amount. The dosage is simple: one small spoonful a day, preferably with a meal, as the pigment is fat-soluble. The bottle is compact and fits neatly in the fridge door once opened.
